[ tilts her head at him, she noticed he didn't answer ]

[ don't worry, he's going to answer: ] And I want to reunite with a friend of mine from home. It'll cost a lot of vouchers, which is why I'm saving.

Do you have a cute pet or something?

Not a pet, she's my steed. I've known her since she was a little hatchling.

She won't be big enough to ride when she arrives here though.

[ despite her deep depression she cannot help the way her eyes light up ]

[ He grins, always happy to chat about his wyvern. ]

She was barely the length of my arm when she first hatched, and could barely walk much less fly. Now she's about three times my size.

You're not... talking about a dragon, are you?

Something similar. She's a wyvern, so she doesn't grow quite as big, and can't breathe fire.

But I still think she's formidable.

How many vouchers do you need to get her?

Chad said 8, I only have 5 right now.

Oh..... but you'll probably get more by tomorrow.

... I'd give you some of mine, but I have to save up, too.

I'd be channeling them.... so, basically, they'd be using my body. Temporarily, of course.

That's... quite a sacrifice.

[ she shifts a little bit, uncomfortable ]

To let someone control your body? I would say so—I can hardly stand being forced to the dorms on Thursday.

W-Well... it's not really control.... it's just like, borrowing? A well-trained spirit medium is still in control.

[ are they! ]

And there are safety measures in place! Just in case....

[shaft]

Well... for example, channelings usually take place in the channeling chamber... and there's a big, thick door, with only one key. So.... if things get dicey, it's just the spirit medium and the client in there... so no one else has to get hurt...

[ her discomfort here is palpable ]

.. And, um, there's a technique, to separate the spirit from the medium too... just in case. But, it doesn't usually happen.
