[ Yeah, Alphinaud is here, mostly because he returns to the dorm at some point and the first thing he beelines to is wherever the heck they make tea. Granted, it's not unusual to find him doing so—he basically lives on the stuff—but there's regular tea and then there's stressed tea.
Today, it's the latter. Alphinaud seems a little distracted until Claude speaks up. ]
[ They aren't close enough for him to pry but there's... a certain sense of camaraderie that comes with enduring all this together, so Claude gives him a concerned look. ]

Those are our only options, huh? [ He leans back, staring up at the ceiling. ] I'm used to solving my problems with war and conflict, but you're more an expert on forging peace, right?
Conflict is inevitable, as is those who are firm in their beliefs, and so I have seen my fair share of war, as well. I daresay I have more often devised the strategies soldiers march into battle with than I have successfully managed to prevent them.
'Tis been a couple of years at this point, and it is... a complicated matter. One that did not end well for me, so I would not dare attempt the role again.
Think naught of it. Though it is one of my biggest regrets, it was a hard lesson learned that I needed at the time. My only wish is that it had not affected my closest comrades, as well...
But, thinking back on it keeps me grounded, as well as I can be.
