[ Appeased, Sahar will settle down beside her, fanning her wings out slightly to absorb the sun. ]

Yeah. She cost a pretty penny too- 8 vouchers. But it was worth it. Missed having a friend from home.

Yeah, definitely worth it. Having a companion around like this is nice. [a beat, and then, joking:] I only ever get to cuddle t-rexes for an hour at a time.

What? Cuddling Caleb at his normal isn't worth it?

[she makes a face at him.]

Definitely not, it's like trying to hug a bar of soap.

He's not big on touch. It's fine, he's got his reasons. [there's just this like, wave of fierce protectiveness.]

[ He just smiles, reaching out a hand for Sahar, an undeniable sense of fondness as she rests her chin on his palm. ]

To be honest, I'm much the same. But I've learned that a small touch can go a long way since coming here.

Yeah. [a pause.] It's comforting.

[she never used to be a touchy person, but it turns out that once you realize you're touch-starved, you want more, maybe!]

Just a hand on an arm helps. [...] Back home, Caleb can use his magic to see through his cat's eyes. While he's doing that he can't sense anything else, so he usually grabs at me to keep him steady.

[she smiles a little.] It's nice to be trusted. Haven't had a lot of that before.

[ He's obviously intrigued by Caleb's magic, but he just smiles at the thought of their friendship. ]

No? But you were travelling with quite a close group, weren't you?

Yeah. Before them, I mean. I've only known them for about a year.

[ Oh what, he'd definitely assumed they were lifelong friends. ]

... Yeah, something like that. [she says, but - it's not very sad. she's pretty neutral on it, these days. maybe a little angry, sometimes.

and then, flatly:] I lived in my dad's house until he had me kidnapped by monks.

... That's a very strange way to show fatherly affection.

Yeah, that's a word for it. It's - whatever. I was a dick of a kid, he wasn't great as a dad, things worked out.
